Jordan M. Duran

I am an organizational researcher who studies the relational, invisible, and marginalized work entangled with emerging technologies. Currently, I am studying the Organizational Communication of Responsible AI and Hidden Communication in Platform Work. I have also contributed to work on labor issues in the tech workforce through projects on membership and responses to mass layoffs.
I recently completed my Ph.D. in Organizational Science from UNC Charlotte. The Organizational Science Ph.D. is an interdisciplinary social-science program focused on work and organizations. In my time at the program I collaborated with the VICE Lab on projects involving virtual team communication and the Aether Working Body on Ethics at Microsoft on employee advocacy for Responsible AI.
I primarly use qualitative methods, including interviews, observation, and textual approaches.
